What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.): One major variety is the 1828/7 $5 Capped Bust Gold Half Eagle - which features an 1828 over 1827 overdate. Parts of the top of the underlying "7" can be seen near the top portion of the last "8" in the date. Only about 5 of these rare varieties are known to exist - which makes them exceptionally valuable.
