What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.): There were two major varieties of the 1798/7 Turban Head $10 Gold Eagle. All varieties feature the "8 Over 7" overdate where the 1798 date was struck over the 1797 date when the dies were re-used. The two varieties feature a different number of stars on each side of the liberty bust on the obverse of the coin. One variety features 9 stars on the left side and 4 stars on the right side (9x4 Stars - as depicted above). Whereas the other variety features 7 stars on the left side and 6 on the right (7x6).
