1798/7 7x6 Stars - Turban Head $10 Gold Eagle - Ten Dollars
There were two major varieties of the 1798/7 Turban Head $10 Gold Eagle. All varieties feature the "8 Over 7" overdate where the 1798 date was struck over the 1797 date when the dies were re-used. The two varieties feature a different number of stars on each side of the liberty bust on the obverse of the coin. One variety features 7 stars on the left side and 6 stars on the right side (7x6 Stars - as depicted above - source of example image is courtesy of Heritage Auction Galleries). Whereas the other variety features 9 stars on the left side and 4 on the right (9x4). The difference between the 9x4 Stars vs 7x6 Stars variety is depicted below in the example comparison image:
